Hmm . . . I'll raise you one, NAB, and say that I don't believe that there really is such thing as a "soul" at all. Rather, the only thing that really exists is "karma" (properly understood, which it isn't by most, I think). I think that part the attachment people have to the idea of a soul is the basic fear of death, and so they cling to the idea that something about them will go on. It's yet another illusion based on certain basic human fears. It's also, I propose, a religious relic. But, even without a soul, how do we account for all the pretty convincing evidence of reincarnation/past-lives? I don't find reincarnation as easy to repudiate. At the same time, as with so, so many things, while reincarnation may exist, it most likely does not exist as we think it does. Ah, that familiar rub. . . . What is reincarnated? Karma? What's karma?
